Apple Pulled Third-Party Reddit Apps From App Store Due To NSFW Content

After the release of the official Reddit app only place on the App Store, Apple has decided to remove from the store a large number of well-known third client portal.

To justify this decision, Apple has announced that such apps violate the 18.2 clause prohibiting apps to deliver content vulgar, sexually explicit or potentially offensive. It is not excluded, however, that it was the same Reddit asking Apple to remove the third-party client from the store, which is available now for the official app.

Today, we received notice that our new update with a lot of great new features was rejected under the App Store rule 18.2: “Your app contains a mechanism to enable or disable Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content, including pornographic content. Apps with sexually explicit content are not appropriate for the App Store.” About 15 minutes afterwards, we received notice that the current version of our app has been removed from the app store.

As for the official Reddit, Apple has asked to make some changes to avoid that users can access these explicit content. Meanwhile, the third party client developers are protesting, partly because the decision was made suddenly and without warning, among other things, just following the release of the official Reddit client.
