Apple required developers to now Retina screenshots of their iPhone apps in the App Store to use. An update to an iPhone app is now only approved by Apple as the developer with a higher resolution screenshots added. Previously it was possible to screenshots with a resolution of 480 by 320 pixels in the App Store to show the resolution used by the iPhone, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G.

Apple iPhone Retina Screenshots

Apple posted the following message through the iOS Developer Program:

Required iPhone & iPod Touch Screenshot Upgrade for Retina Display

When you create or update your apps in iTunes Connect, you must upload screenshots THAT ARE high-resolution. We requirement your screenshots as high-resolution images That so your app is optimized for the Retina display.

The requirements for high-resolution images are 960 x 640, 960 x 600, 640 x 960, or 640 x 920 pixels. Images must be at least 72 dpi in the RGB color space, and the file must be. Jpeg,. Jpg,. Tif,. Tiff, or. Png. You can update your screenshot files at any time in iTunes Connect.

As mentioned abovr,  there is a possibility that Apple will work on the display compatibility between iPhone 2GS and iPhone 3G display,  which at this time are not compatible with the high resolution of the Retina display on iPhone 4 and  iPhone 4S.

The resolution of 480 by 320 pixels was common on the first iPhones, but the Retina screen of the iPhone 4 increased this to 960 by 640 pixels in 2010. The new policy makes Apple use of these higher resolution still more the norm. Apple would deal with the adjustment and can also prepare for the next iPhone: According to rumors, there is also a use of retinal screen. This would be a different resolution than the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, but iPhone apps can already have the retina  screenshots before Apple approves the updates in the App Store . These look less attractive from an ordinary resolution if you have them on a Retina-screen viewing.

Some iPhone apps supports the higher resolution of the Retina screen yet. By requiring developers to make screenshots of this resolution, many apps will be forced to increase the resolution in a future update.

Therefore, we wondered: What apps do you use daily, that urgently need an adjustment for the Retina screen?
