Apple Sold two million iPhone 5 within 24 hours

The iPhone 5 will launch on Friday September 14. So far, Apple sold two million of the handsets. This announcement was made in Apple press release. The number is a lot higher than last year when Apple sold one million the iPhone 4S within 24 hours. It remains unclear how many iPhones will be sold during the whole weekend.

On Friday, September 14, Apple began the iPhone 5 pre-orders in some countries which will be delivered on September 21, also to be available in the Apple Store, among these countries include the U.S., France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

When the iPhone 5 pre-order started on September 14, it took only an hour until the first batch was sold out. Earlier today, the U.S. provider AT&T asserted that the iPhone 5 beat the sales record of the previous iPhones in their database.

According to AT&T, the number of orders for the latest Apple iPhone 5 exceeded all previous iPhone models  for the weekend. At the same time, the company did not release data on the exact number of the Apple handsets pre-ordered, but notes that the shares were sold out within the whole of the first batch of smartphones.

The company calls the iPhone 5 the most successful representative of the ruler, noting that even in Apple «were shocked by the demand for the device.” Phone is still available for pre-order on the official website of AT&T and will be sold in retail stores September 21.
