The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities shows a new report about the production of Apple Watch. An estimate of 2.3 million Apple Watch units were produced from March to May. Given that all models of Apple Watch will be available after Apple’s current forecast in June, the number of pre-orders is likely the 2.3-million-value exceed in any case – how much, of course, is not known.
However, Kuo wants to know which models are the most popular Apple Watch: So far, about 85 percent of the buyer picked the cheapest Apple Watch Sports, around 1 percent had opted for the Apple Watch. The number of pre-orders for the Golden Apple Watch Edition would represent less than 1 percent.
Gene Munster also predicted that could be sold for June are reached . Meanwhile, an independent analytical firm has estimated 1 million the number of bookings from Apple Watch that occurred in the US during the first 24 hours.
Over time, Apple will try production at two to three million copies per month. “Bottlenecks” that slow down production, be the AMOLED displays from LG and the vibrating units for tactile feedback of the manufacturer AAC. The latter have proven challenging to place them in such a small package and make it work properly.
As might be expected considering all the surveys conducted so far, the Apple Watch Sport would be the most popular model for all bookings, being able to reach an amazing 85% of all of them. The Apple Watch Edition would have a number of buyers so minimal compared to the rest would not reach 1%.
Regarding production problems rumored smartwatch, Kuo believes would be the main problem causing the vibration unit that sends the haptic feedback to the user and the screen. The AMOLED display manufactured by LG also would have a rather limited production due to difficulties achieve acceptable levels of color and life.
Kuo also predicts that Apple could reach 2.5 million units in June if production does not encounter too many problems at this level. For him, the Apple Watch is not synonymous with success since a tenth of iPhone owners have ordered one to date.
It remains to know the real sales figures for the Apple Watch, but Apple does unveil only at the announcement of its next financial results.
