Huawei is building into its new top smartphones P9 and a P9 Plus two cameras from the German camera manufacturer Leica. One of them will only shoot black and white images.
The Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has collaborated for its new high-end smartphones and P9 P9 Plus with the German camera manufacturer Leica. The smartphones feature the same two main cameras on the rear panel, developed the lenses for the Leica. When the sensor modules is the Sony IMX286 with 12 megapixels. Whereby the camera customary color photography makes and delivers the actual image and the other snaps only in black and white. In this way, among other things, the light sensitivity, sharpness and contrast to be increased.
In a color photo, both cameras have come to use and work in a team. Exactly how it works, Huawei explained hitherto. But the monochrome camera is able to capture twice as much light as the color clippers and so special help in situations where the subject is not optimally illuminated. HTC built a similar system into its One M8, but that time could not convince in the test.
For autofocus Huawei sets out the classical method by contrast measurement a laser for fast distance calculation. Competitor LG use a similar technique to date in its top models. Similarly there the P9 are likely to use the laser only for short distances up to 40 centimeters – for more of the laser is probably too weak. Thanks to the method, the auto-focusing is to be even faster. Smartphones with classic autofocus like the Samsung Galaxy S7 were the equipped with a laser device but in terms of speed so far in every way.
The manufacturer equips the camera app also with numerous filtering and post-processing functions, such as aperture and subsequent Focus filters and movie modes that emphasize the colors or allows smooth goers.
