With the history of the application Path unveiled Wednesday morning which allowed to come pick your contacts without warning, a mini scandal broke. Quickly, the leader behind the application in question has apologized and admitted that an update would be available on the App Store soon. Since this is the case, Path has been updated [ App Store Link - Free] with greater confidentiality of contacts.
But Path is not the only application to use without first seeking permission from the user. Thus, to counter this problem, the developer Ryan Petrich thought of us and on Cydia offers a tweak that against this process.
The tweak in question is ContactPrivacy . Now, if an application wants access to your address book, a pop-up will appear telling you the wish of the application. Either you are confident enough to the editor and you accept the request, or you have some doubts and you simply refuse. Simple, practical and effective. It would be nice to see a settings added to the Settings application that lets you turn applications on and off just like location services so that you won't always get the popup when it tries to launch and use your contacts' information.
ContactPrivacy is available for free on Cydia on the BigBoss repository.
