Apple Announces 10 Billion Song Downloads Contest

 

  

 

The contest is open (with some minor exceptions) to residents of all countries that have an iTunes store—presumably so that the winner will actually be able to spend the prize. It is also possible to enter without downloading a song from iTunes by submitting a form on the Apple Website—in that case, the winner would have to time the submission so that it comes right after the 9,999,999,999th download.

iTunes changed the way you buy music, making songs and albums available for download, day or night. Seven years later, we’re about to celebrate our biggest milestone for music, yet — 10 billion songs downloaded. Buy a song, and if it’s the 10 billionth download, you could win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. It’s our way of saying thanks.

HomeMasons pumpkin decorating contest

HomeMasons, Inc., will sponsor a pumpkin decorating contest open to anyone. Residents are invited to enter pictures of their carved pumpkins on-line. The deadline for entries is October 31. 

Once posted, people can vote on their favorite jack-o-lantern. Visitors to the contest page will have until November 9 to help pick a winner. The winner will be decided by the most popular entry. 

"There are a lot of folks who could really use the eight hours of labor to make repairs to their home," said Mason Hearn, owner of HomeMasons. "Or maybe, they have a list of 'honey-dos' that need to be done before the holiday.  This is a great way to accomplish that.  I mean, you are going to carve a pumpkin, anyway, right?  So, take that picture, post it and you are in the running."
