How to Fix error 16xx During Restore Custom Firmware 3.1.3 Restore[windows & Mac]

  

 

1. Download the tool ( here and here ) and install it .

2. Load iTunes and put your iDevice in DFU mode.

3. When iTunes will tell you that it find an iPhone in recovery mode, close iTunes and start iReb.

4. Simply select your device from the list and wait a few seconds until the screen turns white or red.

5. Start iTunes, select your iPhone and holding shift ( or alt on a Mac ) , click on restore.

6. Select the custom firmware and you are good to go.

You can also follow step bellow

Step 1
Double click PwnageTool dmg file to mount it.

Click and drag the PwnageTool icon to Pwnage Folder you created and then open it from there.

Warning Box will Popup. Just hit the OK button.

Step 2

Make sure you select Expert Mode from Top menu

Step 3
Select your device i.e: iPhone 3G. A big Green check mark will appear on the selected device.
Now hit the big Blue Arrow button at bottom right to proceed.

Step 4
On the next page, PwnageTool will automatically find the IPSW file. If not found then click “Browse for IPSW” button and select the downloaded IPSW file: iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw. A check mark will appear next to it.

Then hit Blue Arrow Button to proceed.

Step 5
On the next page you will have 6 choices. Select the General and hit Blue Arrow Button to proceed.

Step 6
On the next Page you can decide your Root Partition Size where OS resides. Click activate the phone (if you’re on unofficial carrier).

***For the 3.1 firmware you may have to increase the size of your root partition slightly for the IPSW build to be successful. 695MB worked just fine for me***

The Bootneuter settings are greyed out for the iPhone 3G. Click the blue arrow button.

The next screen will show the Cydia settings menu. It allows you to create custom packages so you do not have to manually install them later.

Go to Download packages tab.and hit the Refresh button to display all the available packages. Double click your desired package, it will be downloaded and will be available under the Select Packages tab.

When you have downloaded your desired packages, go back to Select Packages tab and check mark the ones you want.

then hit the Blue Arrow Button to proceed.

Custom Packages Settings will displays listed package settings for your custom IPSW. Leave these settings as is for now. Just click the Blue Arrow Button to proceed.

On the next Custom Logos Settings menu, you’ll be able to add your own images as boot logos. Click the Browse button to select your Boot logo and Recovery logo. I just use defaults so deselected all options.

Click the blue arrow button to continue.

Step 7
Now you are  ready to build your custom firmware. Click the build button to select it, then click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step 8
You will be asked to Save your custom .ipsw file. Save it to the same Pwnage folder.

Step 9
PwnageTool will start building your custom firmware. Wait until it’s done.

If prompted enter your Administrator password and click the OK button.

When prompted if your iPhone has been Pwned before, Click No. It allows for a more thorough restore.

You will be asked to turn OFF the device. Make sure iPhone is connected to the USB port and turned off.

Step 10
Be ready to follow directions now.

• You will be asked to hold the home button and the power button for 10 seconds.
• Then, you will have to release the power button and hold the home button for 10 seconds to enter DFU.

If you failed to follow the instructions, it will show you a message asking if you want to retry?. Click Yes.

Unplug the iPhone from the USB. Turn it OFF, then turn it back ON. Reconnect it to USB and turn OFF the iPhone when prompted.

When followed correctly, PwnageTool  will display a message telling you that it successfully entered DFU mode. iTunes will also pop-up.

Step 11
In iTunes, hold the Alt/Option key and hit Restore.

Step 12
From the popup window, browse to the Pwnage Folder and select you custom .ipsw file that you just created (iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore.ipsw) and click Open Button.

Step 13
iTunes will now restore the firmware on your iPhone. This can also take up to 10 minutes.

That is it. Enjoy your jailbroken 3.1.3 Device.

How to: Downgrade iPhone 3GS From 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 with the new iBoot

After long search, I managed to downgrade my iphone 3GS From 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 with the new iBoot ,while I was in my ECID 3.1.3 and was not registered on the  saurik server. 

1 - Downloaded the firmware 3.1.2 on your pc. 

2 - Make sure the iTunes is updated to the latest version

3 - Do a SHIFT + click on the button "Restore". 

4 - Downgrade occurs at the end of 3 / 4 of loading, an error (1015), click "OK" and close itunes. itunes logo + USB port appear. 

5 - Install libusb-win32 (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.2.exe), then launch console iRecovery.exe. you find here 

6 - Make a iRecovery.exe-s to fit in the shell of the iphone 

7 - Once in the shell, type their commands: 

setenv auto-boot true 

saveenv 

/ exit 

8 - Reboot the iphone with the buttons HOME + SLEEP (10sec) 

  

 

- Your iphone should have the iPhone 3GS firmware and you can follow our complete jailbreaking guide for  guide for iPhone 3.1.2 3Gs using blackran1. Yyou can then unlock your iPhone using ultrasn0w.

- For iRecovery.exe launches in console mode, start menu> run> cmd> then Desktop iRecovery.exe (eg if your file is on the desktop) 

-  If you're on Seven or vista, put in compatibility mode "Windows XP SP2, and run in administrator mode.

How to Make iTunes Believe You Have iPhone OS 3.1.3 Installed

  

 

If for some reason you have decided to hold off from upgrading to this minor update until the new iPhone OS 3.2 or iPhone 4.0 is available, you can fake your firmware to iPhone 3.1.3 which will make iTunes believe you have the latest firmware installed, hence allowing you to download and install all the apps from the App Store.

Simply follow the steps below to fake your firmware to iPhone 3.1.3. This wont in any way effect your baseband/unlock or anything in real. All it does is change the version number from iPhone 3.1.2 to iPhone 3.1.3.

Step 1: You will need to have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch on iPhone 3.1.2 in order to get this to work. Follow our complete step by step guide posted here to jailbreak your iPhone with iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.

Step 2: “Fake 3.1.3” app is available in Cydia on http://cy.sosiphone.com/ repository. Make sure you have added http://cy.sosiphone.com/ repo in Cydia.

Step 3: Now simply search for “Fake 3.1.3” in Cydia and install it. You must restart your iPhone for the changes to take effect.

Step 4: After reboot, navigate to Settings –> General –> About. You should now have “3.1.3 (7E18)” listed beside “Version”.

How to Install Windows 7 from a USB

I 

Requirements:

USB Flash Drive (Minimum 4GB)

Windows 7 or Vista installation files.

Follow the below steps to create bootable Windows 7/Vista USB drive using which you can install Windows 7/Vista easily.

Setp 1: Download & Install Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from Microsoft Store

Step 2: Run Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

Step 3: Browse to the Windows 7 ISO file and click Next

Step 4: Here you will be asked to choose a media type (USB device / DVD)

Step 5: In our case we select USB device

Step 6: Now, you will be asked to insert USB device and click on refresh

Step 7: From the drop-down list select the USB flash drive that you have just inserted and click Begin Copying

or

1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port and move all the contents from USB drive to a safe location on your system.

2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt with admin rights.

*Type cmd in Start menu search box and hit Ctrl+ Shift+ Enter.

Or

*Go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt.

Next type LIST DISK command and note down the Disk number (ex: Disk 1) of your USB flash drive. In the below screenshot my Flash Drive Disk no is Disk 1.

4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is “Disk 1”.If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.

So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:

SELECT DISK 1

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

(Format process may take few seconds)

ASSIGN

EXIT

Don’t close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Next insert your Windows7/Vista DVD into the optical drive and check the drive letter of the DVD drive. In this guide I will assume that your DVD drive letter is “D” and USB drive letter is “H” (open my computer to know about it).

6. Maximize the minimized Command Prompt in the 4th step.Type  the following command now:

D: CD BOOT and hit enter.Where “D” is your DVD drive letter.

CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.

7. Type another command given below to update the USB drive with BOOTMGR compatible code.

BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 H.

Where “H” is your USB drive letter. Once you enter the above command you will see the below message.

8. Copy your Windows 7/Vista DVD contents to the USB flash drive.

9. Your USB drive is ready to boot and install Windows 7/Vista. Only thing you need to change the boot priority at the BIOS to USB from the HDD or CD ROM drive. I won’t explain it as it’s just the matter the changing the boot priority or enabling the USB boot option in the BIOS.

How to Downgrade iPhone OS 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 Using Fuzzyband

Fuzzyband has been updated to include downgrading support from the iPhone OS 3.1.3 baseband (05.12.01) for 05.08 bootloader users (early iPhone 3G).

You can find Fuzzyband in the System section of Cydia. Instructions on how to perform the downgrade can be found here.

Using this utility early iPhone 3G users can downgrade their baseband to an unlockable version allowing them run OS 3.1.3 unlocked even if they accidentally upgraded. This wont work with iPhone 3GS.

  

 

If your iPhone meets the above criteria, you can then use the latest version of Fuzzyband which supports iPhone 3.1.3 to downgrade your 05.12.01 baseband to the older 04.26.08 even if you accidently upgraded to the stock iPhone OS 3.1.3 from iTunes. Once you have downgraded your baseband, you can then use ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone on iPhone 3.1.3 firmware. Here’s how you do it.

Step 1: To downgrade your baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08, you must first jailbreak your iPhone 3G running firmware 3.1.3 by using any of one these guides:  redsn0w 0.9.3 ,or  redsn0w 0.9.4 for iPhone 2G, 3G and iPod touch 1G/2G, Sn0wbreeze 3.1.3 V1.4

 Step 2: After you have jailbroken your iPhone, Go to “Cydia” on your iPhone and Search for “Fuzzyband” and then install this application.

  

 

Step 3: Start “Fuzzyband” app and touch on “Downgrade” button to downgrade your Baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08.

  

 

Step 4: You should now be able to perfectly unlock your iPhone 3G using the latest version of ultrasn0w by following the step-by-step guide posted here.

NOTE: For those of you who don’t know your bootloader, simply run Fuzzyband and it will report the version number for you.

How to Fix 1604 Error During iPhone 3.1.3 IPSW Custom Restore

 This error occurred when you are trying to restore your jailbroken custom iPhone 3.1.3 .ipsw file which you cooked using either PwnageTool orsn0wbreeze. The error which iTunes throws may look like this.

The iPhone "[your iPhone]"  could not be restored. An unknown error occurred.

  

 

To get around this problem, there is a handy little tool called iREB (iTunes Restore Error Bypasser) for both Windows and Macs which can help you bypass the error when you are restoring .ipsw file in iTunes. The latest version of this program supports iPhone 3.1.3 firmware running on the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 1G/2G.

Follow the steps below to bypass this error so that you can restore iPhone 3.1.3 firmware in iTunes.

Step 1: Start iTunes and put your phone into DFU mode:

Press and hold the Home button and the Power button at the same time. After exactly 10 seconds release the Power button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. At this point your iPhone/iPod touch screen will remain black.

  

 

Step 2: Now close iTunes and Start iREB on Windows or Mac.

  

 

Step 3: Simply select your device and wait for a few seconds until you get white or a red screen on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Step 4: Now open iTunes and select your phone from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold left “alt” button (“Shift” button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update”) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button. Select a custom .ipsw file and restore it.

That’s it! iTunes should now be able to restore your iPhone or iPod touch to the latest iPhone 3.1.3 firmware without any problems. Hopefully you wont get any errors this time around!

One thing to note here is that iREB is not for jailbreaking. It is only used for restoring to custom .ipsw firmware files via iTunes without any errors.

How to Downgrade Your iPhone 3GS Using a Cydia Saved SHSH [Mac]

In order for these instructions to work you must have previously jailbroken on an earlier firmware version and opened Cydia allowing it to save your SHSH on file.  Check the windows version here
Step One
Launch a new Finder window by clicking its icon in the dock.


Step Two
Click to select Go to Folder... from the Go menu.


Step Three
Enter /etc into the input field and click the Go button.


Step Four
Locate the hosts file in the folder that opens then control+control to bring up the contextual menu.


Choose Open With then TextEdit from the menus that appear.


Step Five
Once TextEdit has opened up the hosts file. Append 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to end of the document.




Step Six
Select Save As... from the File menu.


Step Seven
Navigate to the Desktop, uncheck the If no extension is provided, use ".txt" box, and make sure the filename is just hosts with no extension. Then click the Save button.


Step Eight
Drag the hosts file from your Desktop to the /etc folder we still have open.


Click the Authenticate button when prompted.


Click the Replace button when warned that a file of the same name already exists.


Enter your administrative username and password when prompted then click the OK button.





You are now ready to downgrade your device. Simply put the iPhone into DFU mode and in iTunes Option+Click the Restore button to select the firmware you would like to downgrade to. If you get error message 1011 or 1013 just ignore it. If you get error message 1015 repeat the entire restore then jailbreak after it fails the second time.

How to Downgrade Your iPhone 3GS Using a Cydia Saved SHSH [Windows]

Step One
Right click Notepad from within Start:Programs:Accessories.

 
 

Step Two
Choose Run as administrator from the contextual popup menu.


Step Three
A popup will appear asking if you would like to give Notepad system access. Click the Yes button.

Step Four
Once Notepad opens select Open... from the File menu.


Step Five
Choose to view all files from the dropdown then navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and select thehosts file. Click the Open button.


Step Six 
Append 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to end of the file.




Step Seven
Select Save from the File menu to commit your changes.



You are now ready to downgrade your device. Simply put the iPhone into DFU mode and in iTunes Shift+Click the Restore button to select the firmware you would like to downgrade to. If you get error message 1011 or 1013 just ignore it. If you get error message 1015 repeat the entire restore then jailbreak after it fails the second time.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with PwnageTool 3.1.5

This latest version of PwnageTool can jailbreak the original iPhone (Edge/2G), iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS(older bootrom only) and iPod touch (1G and 2G non-MC model) running on iPhone firmware 3.1.3. The custom .ipsw firmware files created with PwnageTool can update iPhone to firmware 3.1.3 without updating its baseband so that it can be unlocked to run on any carrier SIM. iPod touch 3G is currently not supported.

  

 

Note For Windows XP/Vista/7 Users: PwnageTool 3.1.5 is for Mac OS X only. Windows users should follow the guide posted here or here in order to jailbreak and unlock iPhone running with firmware 3.1.3.

The following step-by-step instructions will help you jailbreak your iPhone running on iPhone firmware 3.1.3 with PwnageTool 3.1.5:

Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes.

Step 2: Now start iTunes and sync your iPhone with your PC so that it backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.

Step 3: Download PwnageTool 3.1.5 and the original iPhone OS 3.1.3 for your version of iPhone (download links given below). Move all these files to your desktop.

Step 4: Start PwnageTool 3.1.5 and select your device:

  

 

Step 5: PwnageTool 3.1.5 will now automatically detect the correct firmware for your device as shown in the screenshot below:

 
 

Step 6: Click on "No" when PwnageTool asks you “Do you have an iPhone contract that would activate normally through iTunes?”

 
 

Clicking on “Yes” will update your baseband to the latest version which will make your device almost impossible to unlock. Click on “Yes” only if you are on an officially supported carrier like AT&T.

Step 7: PwnageTool will now create the custom .ipsw file for your iPhone which will be jailbroken.

 
 

The following “ihaz Success” screen will confirm that the requested .ipsw file has been created successfully.

  
 
 

Step 8: Once the .ipsw file has been created, you will now have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.1.3 that you just cooked using PwnageTool 3.1.5 for your iPhone. Click on your phone icon from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold left “alt” button (“Shift” button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update” or “Check for Update”) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button.

This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your downloaded custom firmware 3.1.3. Select that custom .ipsw file and click on “Open”.

Step 9: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don’t do anything silly. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 3.1.3 on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, iPhone will restart automatically and you should now have a fully jailbroken iPhone/iPod touch running on firmware 3.1.3.

How to: Unlock iPhone on 3.1.3: 
You can now follow the tutorial/guide posted here to unlock your iPhone on firmware 3.1.3 using ultrasn0w.

Step 10: Once you are done with the unlocking and jailbreak process. You can now restore all your settings, apps, music, contacts and photos to the newly installed firmware version 3.1.3 by restoring the backup that you made in Step 2 from iTunes.

How to Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.2 with blackra1n

1. Download blackra1n

2.. Click the make it ra1n button.

3. Your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot once blackra1n is done doing it’s thing and you should see the blackra1n icon on there. If you don’t see the blackra1n icon, go to the last page on your iDevice and you should see it.

4. Install your preferred aplication from the blackra1n app. You have the option of choosing Cydia, Icy, or Rock. I don’t recommend you to install them all at once, because that may cause problems. Install them one at a time.
