Microsoft released Word, Excel and PowerPoint update for iPad with PDF support

Microsoft released a major update to mobile office apps. Office for the iPad has all the basic features of the desktop desktop version and synchronized with OneDrive cloud service. The  update 1.1 enhanced work with PDF-files, support for external keyboards and new opportunities for working with pictures.

Office suite for iPad includes three applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Externally similar to Office 2013 Office for computers, but has a more compact and simple ribbon menu adapted for touch screen. In the mobile office available all the same basic features as the desktop version of the package. In Word, you can change the font, make it bold, italic and underlined text, choose the color of text, formatting, create lists, use the clipboard, add comments to the text and insert charts.

In Excel for extra convenience offered a customized keyboard that facilitates the entry of formulas. Cell values ​​are automatically recalculated as you update data, as well as in the desktop version. The same applies to the charts. In PowerPoint, there are various slide show effects. The user can create a presentation and run it on the tablet screen. What’s new in Word 1.1 for iPad:

  • Sending a PDF-file. You asked and we listened to you. Now you can send a Word document as a PDF-files.
  • You can crop the photos to leave only the necessary parts, or to undo any changes.
  • Now in the “Fonts” available third-party fonts.

What’s New in Excel 1.1 for iPad:

  • Sending a PDF-file. You asked and we listened to you. Now you can send Excel documents as PDF-files.
  • Swipe your finger across the cell selection marker in any direction to quickly select all the data in the row or column.
  • Use an external keyboard even easier. Now you can enter data and move around in the spreadsheet as well as on your PC or Mac.
  • You can work with pivot tables, data sources, which are in the same book.
  • Additional paper size and scaling options make it easy to choose the layout you want to print books.
  • You can crop the photos to leave only the necessary parts, or to undo any changes.
  • Now in the “Fonts” available third-party fonts.

What’s new in PowerPoint 1.1 for iPad:

  • You can view and edit speaker notes, see the next slide and easily jump to other slides in the presentation.
  • Multimedia playback. During the presentation, you can play video, sound effects and background music.
  • Video can be inserted directly from the film.
  • You can crop the photos to leave only the necessary parts or to undo any changes.
  • Now you can erase the pictures in the selection and presentation.
  • PowerPoint documents can now be sent as PDF-files.
  • You can add links to your presentation or modify existing ones.
  • Now in the “Fonts” available third-party fonts.

Download Office for the iPad from the App Store is free. Users can open and view files but editing files require subscription to Office 365 service.
