The next big thing is already here, after months of waiting, and rumors. As expected, today we are facing a terminal with spectacular specifications, which will delight the lovers of the large format. It has been a year expectant of what would be the specifications, features and price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Without further delay, we will tell you absolutely everything about this terminal. Screen, battery, processor, price … The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is already here, and this is all you have to know.
This year we are finally facing a revolution in the design of the terminals. It is beginning to standardize the Infinity Display, or screen without just borders. This allows large panels to be inserted into very small bodies. To give you an idea, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is just a tad taller than a traditional 5.5-inch device, despite having 6.3 inches. It is something more angular than a Samsung Galaxy S8, although everything indicates that the ergonomics will be just as good, being one of the terminals that best sit in the hand
In its back part we find a double camera arranged horizontally, something that we had never seen in the Korean firm. The fingerprint reader repeats location, next to the camera in the upper left of the terminal. It is at the bottom where to find the main difference with their brothers the S8, and is that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a feature that makes it unique, the S-Pen. This is housed inside the terminal, and seems to be more useful than ever.
Samsung and Super AMOLED technology are something that go hand in hand for some time. In this case, we are faced with a panel of 6.3 inches with QHD + resolution. As it could not be otherwise, it is compatible with HDR technology, and has almost the same ratio as an S8 (more than 80%), thanks to the absence of side edges.
Improving the S8 panel, the screen of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 aspires to be the best ever seen on a smartphone, although we must wait to see it and touch it with our own hands before venturing to affirm it. To finish this section, you can not forget that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will have the Always On Display technology, which allows access to the information of the device without activating it. Thanks to its AMOLED panel, they do not light more than the required pixels, and the battery consumption is negligible.
It was rather strange that the Samsung Galaxy S8 did not mount a double rear camera. LG, Huawei, OnePlus … Double sensors are the order of the day, and allow you to take more artistic photographs when there is only one. Samsung has seen it clear, and has introduced two latest generation ISOCELL sensors in its star device.
One of the cameras has a 12 megapixel sensor with aperture f / 1.7, while the other maintains the resolution, but closes the aperture to a f / 2.4. The optical stabilizer (OIS) works alongside a 2X optical zoom, capable of digitally expanding the image up to 10X. The portrait mode is another reality in Note 8, the effect can be applied live or once the photo is taken.
This year, the S8’s camera has been one of the rivals to beat, considering that Note 8 should be above, few terminals will be able to measure up to such photographic technology.
Software and S-Pen
Note 8, finally, will come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, customized with Samsung Experience. You already know the renewed touchwiz, so it’s time to talk about software integration with the more productivity-oriented hardware component, the S-Pen. On this occasion, Samsung emphasizes the professional use that can be given to this terminal.
The S-Pen has a 0.7 millimeter tip, and more than 4,000 precision points. With it, you can take notes without activating Note 8, thanks to Always On, use the options of screen memo, draw and everything you can think of oriented to your productivity.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one of the most powerful terminals of Android. It has the same Exynos processor from its brother Samsung Galaxy S8, 8895. For American variants the processor that will give life will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. The RAM is composed by a module of 6 GB, while the internal storage will be Of 64 GB expandable by microSD cards.
The battery has an amperage of 3300mAh, and could not be higher, according to Samsung, by the space occupied by the S-Pen in the device. The device is water resistant, as it is IP68 certified, compatible with the Gear 360, Gear VR and with Samsung Dex, a device that we will tell you about it in a little while. Also have Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type C, AKG audio, fingerprint reader in the same location of the S8, and technologies for facial recognition and iris recognition.
With the purchase of Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung will give you the Dex, an accessory that allows us to use the smartphone on a monitor. But make no mistake, it is not a simple issue of content as you can do with Google Home and a Chromecast, Samsung Dex adapts the content of the device to have a fully integrated interface with the monitor.
This will not allow us to use the mobile as a desktop device, and lets you take advantage of the Game Launcher to reschedule the games on our monitor in an outstanding way. Productivity is the strength of Note 8, and Dex is a clear example of this.
The price is set to roughly $930. There is the Dual SIM version, for the same price and to be launched on September 15 in the US and ?UK, September 22 in Australia.
From now, and until next September 14, you can pre-buy the terminal in Spain. If you do, you will receive the DeX Station accessory for free. Now, tell us what you thought of this device, if you have in mind to do with it, and if you expected more or less of it.
