Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab S tablet: fingerprint scanner to compete with the iPad

Samsung has officially unveiled a new Galaxy Tab S tablet model lineup: Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4, designed to compete with the iPad Air and iPad mini equipped with a fingerprint sensor and Super AMOLED screen display. The first Galaxy Tab 7.7 model was released in 2011.

The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 tablets have screen sizes of 8.4 – and 10.5-inch with a resolurion of 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA), resulting in pixel density of 288 ppi and 359 ppi respectively. All models have an onboard 3GB RAM and 16/32GB of internal memory, which can be increased up to 128GB thanks to microSD support . Devices are equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash on the back and front with a resolution of 2.1 megapixels.

The device will be available in several versions with different hardware platform, depending on the region supplied. The LTE-versions will use 800 Snapdragon chipset with four core Krait 400 with 2.3 GHz and support for Wi-Fi based on Samsung Exynos 5 Octa quad-core Cortex-A7 (1,3 GHz) chip and four 1.9-GHz cores Cortex-A15.

Galaxy Tab S specifications also include Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac MIMO (Wi-Fi Direct) wireless adapters, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G/LTE (optional) support networks and GPS / GLONASS navigation. Furthermore, the device has an IR module accelerometer and a number of sensors. Unlock tablets, as well as the protection of personal files and authorization across different systems and services can be done byusing a bilt-in fingerprint scanner into the Home button. Dimensions

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is 247 × 177 × 6,6 mm, weight – about 465 grams. The battery capacity of 7900 mAh battery provides up to 11 hours of battery life. Dimensions previous model is 213 × 126 × 6,6 mm, weight – 300 grams of slightly less battery capacity – 4900 mAh. As OS supports Android 4.4.

The new Galaxy Tab S is running on Android 4.4 Kitkat with a proprietary interface Magazine UX. Device owners will be able to download a free range of applications. Furthermore, together with the tablets, a variety of accessories will be offered, including bags and keyboard.

Pre-order is opened in United Statesfor the new models, the delivery of which will begin in July (support for LTE version will come later). Price Galaxy Tab 8.4 starts at $399 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 can be purchased for as low as $499.
