Samsung formally presented Galaxy Spherical smartphone with a curved display

Samsung has officially unveiled the world’s first smartphone equipped with a curved screen. According to the manufacturer , the new product , called Galaxy Round, due to its shape, which is very comfortable in the hand .

The edges of the screen Galaxy Round are curved, it can display information if the finger manage to touch the main display of the  smartphone. Similarly, you can control the music player : clicking on the right edge of the Galaxy Round starts to play the next track by pressing the left – previous . Similar features are used in the gallery when viewing photos and video player .

On the technical side , it is, in fact , Galaxy Round – this is the same ” planshetofon » Galaxy Note 3 , but with a curved screen . Even the diagonal , resolution and type of display new items completely fit the characteristics of the display Galaxy Note 3: 5.7 -inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels and Super AMOLED respectively.

In the configuration of the Samsung Galaxy Round went quad-core 2.3 GHz , 13 -resolution camera and a 2 megapixel , communication adapters Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, modem LTE-A, USB 3.0 port . The RAM is 3 GB of built- volatile memory – 32 GB. The operating system uses Android 4.3.

In addition , the new product has a thickness of 7.9 millimeters at a mass of 154 grams . These parameters are smaller than Note 3 which has a thickness of 8.3 millimeters and a weight of 169 grams.

Samsung Galaxy Round will go on sale in South Korea for about $1,000 from a local telecom operator SK Telecom. On the timing of shipments to Russia and the prices the company has not yet reported. [via Samsung Tomorrow]
