Siri app in the iOS 7 firmware uses Microsoft Bing search engine. The integration demonstrated during the announcement of the new mobile platform at the conference WWDC.
Apple Siri previously used Google default search, now it will be Bing. For Microsoft, the lags significantly behind Google’s share of search on the Internet, translating voice assistant for Apple Bing – a great success. Although Redmond still can not beat Google in direct competition, they got a deal on the use of Yahoo and Bing systems semantic search Facebook Graph Search. Now the coalition against Google came and Apple. According to comScore, the U.S. share of Microsoft’s search for the month rose by almost 0.5% – to 17.3%. Google owns 66.5% of the U.S. search market.
However, for Facebook, Bing system plays a backup role. Search results are displayed in Bing users only if Facebook can not respond to the request itself. Because both Apple, and Facebook are interested to show their own results, over time, the proportion of requests passed through Bing, may be reduced.
Be that as it may, the steps taken so far have brought Microsoft some losses, but despite the setbacks, Bing gradually increasing the share. If this goes on, the hegemony of Google can come to an end.
