The computer maker Apple said Monday it had sold two million copies of its new tablet computer iPad in less than two months, more than the iPhone at launch. The group had sold 1.4 million iPhones in the first three months of its launch, only the United States.

Launched on April 3 in the country, the iPad, which combines the functionality of a mini-computer, a player and a media player, is available since Friday in Australia, Canada, in France, Germany, Italy , Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Apple has delayed for one month out of its touch pad internationally due to high demand in the United States, which had exceeded their
expectations. "Customers worldwide have the opportunity to experience magic of the iPad, and they seem to enjoy it as much as us, "said Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

"We are grateful for their patience and we are working to make a sufficient number of iPad for everyone", he added. The iPad will be available in nine additional countries in July.
