As you remember on February 25, 2013 to the United States entered into force amendments to the “Law on the Protection of Copyright in the Digital Age”, according to which the unlocking and iOS jailbreaking smartphones and tablets become illegal procedures and possible only with the consent of the cellular operator. Many users, this situation did not suit, and they opposed the amendment. The White House held a discussion of the law and petitions 114,000 people who were in favor of repeal.

As reported by administration officials U.S. , the government has decided to make  the iPhone unlock legitimate.

White House agrees with those 114,000 by the citizens, who believe that people have the right to unlock their smartphones without breaking the law. Moreover, we believe that the same principle should apply to plates that are somewhat similar to those of smartphones.This decision is of great importance for the protection of consumer rights in the United States – said in a statement.

Soon, the U.S. government will revise the points of the rules in the “Law on Copyright Protection in the Digital Age» (DMCA), associated with a carrier unlock smartphone in the U.S..
