Face ID was appeared last year with the introduction of the iPhone X. While Apple is planing on releasing three iPhones this year, there still a doubt about the possibility of Apple integrating the in-display fingerprint sensors, but the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo extinguishes all enthusiasm.
In a new note sent to investors today, Kuo claims that Fingerprint On Display (FOD) technology will grow 500% in 2019, but only in Android phones. Apple, in fact, will not integrate any Touch ID inside the display of the future iPhone, neither in 2019, nor later.
Until a few months ago, some rumors still talked about the possibility of having a fingerprint sensor in Apple smartphones, thanks to the FOD technology that allows you to hide the sensor inside the display. But Apple seems instead focused only on Face ID and improvement of facial recognition, and the restoration of fingerprints would seem a step back.
What is different is that the argument for Android devices, given that in 2019 there should be a boom in displays with integrated fingerprint sensor. Among these, there should also be the Samsung Galaxy S10.
