New rumors emerge from the blog Macotakara that Apple could launch a new iPod touch by the end of the year. Furthermore, the same source states that the iPhone 2019 will abandon the Lightning port in favor of USB-C.
Macotakara cites sources close to Apple suppliers in China, but many details are not provided. What we know from this rumor is that Apple has already started production of the 7th generation iPod touch, whose release is expected in 2019.
Considering that Apple wants to focus more and more on services (Apple Music, iCloud, App Store, iTunes, future Netflix style platform), the iPod touch could be the low-cost entry-level for those who want to enter the eco- Apple system. A way to grow the base of installations at a global level and the users of the various services mentioned above, especially among the youngest.
The same source also states that all 2019 iPhone will be mounted with a USB-C port, just like on the iPad Pro 2018. It would be the final farewell to the Lightning port.
