Apple Confirms Meltdown And Spectre Vulnerabilities Affect All Macs And iOS Devices

meltdown-spectreWe started this year, 2018 with security problems in Intel, AMD and ARM processors. As you know, Apple uses two of these types on their computers: Intel and ARM. And before more information is published, the company has decided to come to the fore and confirm that all its equipment – except the Apple Watch – are affected by both known vulnerabilities under the names Meltdown and Specter.

The first thing you should know: all your teams are affected – we are, like the vast majority of the competition. However, as they explain in the press release, in December 2017 they already took action on the matter and on the updates of the operating systems iOS 11.2, macOS 10.13.2 and tvOS 11.2 there are already security patches to mitigate the impact of Meltdown on our equipment. However, for Specter they continue working and soon an update will be released for the Safari web browser versions for macOS as for iOS.

Meltdown is, according to the company, the vulnerability that “greater potential to be exploited.” This vulnerability works as follows: it allows a program to access the memory, and therefore also the secrets of other programs and the operating system itself, as explained by Meltdown Attack.
