After a long wait, Apple officially presented the new iPhone SE with the A13 Bionic processor and revamped the camera from the previous model.
Apple has announced the second-generation iPhone SE featuring a 4.7- inch Retina display and identical design to the iPhone 8 with a Home button and Touch ID.
On the hardware level, the new iPhone SE is equipped with the A13 Bionic chip, capable of offering the highest performances in the sector, and a new single-camera system that offers the advantages of computational photography such as Portrait mode. The device resists water and dust.
iPhone SE has an aerospace aluminum design and durable glass with a completely black front side and is available in black, white and (PRODUCT) RED.
The finish of the rear glass with the Apple logo in the center comes from a seven-layer coloring process that allows you to obtain deep colors and precise shades, with the tone-on-tone aluminum profile matches the glass. iPhone SE resists splashes and dust, with an IP67 grade water resistance rating, up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
The 4.7-inch Retina HD display with True Tone adjusts the white balance based on ambient light while giving the screen a more natural brightness. Thanks to haptic feedback, you can have access to quick actions, such as animating a Live Photo, previewing a message, rearranging apps, open contextual menus, and much more.
iPhone SE proposes the Home button, with a sapphire crystal design to make it resistant and protect the sensor, and a steel ring to detect the user’s fingerprint for the Touch ID.
The A13 Bionic chip offers high performance and is optimized on machine learning: it has an 8-core Neural Engine capable of processing five thousand billion operations per second, two accelerators for machine learning on the CPU, and a new ML controller to balance performance and efficiency.
iPhone SE supports wireless charging with Qi-certified chargers and is also compatible with fast charging, which allows charging the battery up to 50% in 30 minutes. Gigabit-class 6 and LTE Wi-Fi connections offer higher download speeds as well. This smartphone also supports dual SIM with eSIM, which makes it possible to have two phone numbers on one device.
The camera has a 12MP wide-angle and aperture with f /1.8 aperture. The ISP processor and the Neural Engine of the A13 Bionic chip allow you to take advantage of the advantages of computational photography, such as Portrait mode, all six effects Portrait lighting, and Depth control. iPhone SE also offers the new generation Smart HDR, which recognizes people in the frame and changes the lighting to return more natural images, with incredible details of light and shadow.
As for videos, there is a stereo audio recording and video stabilization available on both cameras. The rear camera records 4K videos up to 60 fps, and the extended dynamic range up to 30 fps produces more detailed footage. Customers can also use QuickTake videos on both cameras, to record movies without leaving Photo mode.
iPhone SE will be available starting April 24 in black, white, and (PRODUCT) RED from apple.com, in the Apple Store app, and the Apple retail stores. Also, the SE will be available from Apple Authorized resellers and some mobile carriers. It will be possible to pre-order from Aril 17. The prices go as follows: 64 GB will be $399 or $16.62 per month, the 128 GB and 256 GB models cost $449 or $17.70 per month and $549 or $22.87 per month respectively without a trade-in.
