Apple has recently started the release of the final version of iOS 12.3 available for iPhone and iPad.
The main novelty is the new TV application, which includes the Apple TV channels section, currently not available in Italy, a function that simplifies the activation and use of streaming video subscription services bringing them all in one app. Billing is handled by Apple and all content is hosted by Apple and displayed in the TV application itself.
The TV app in Italy includes only the movie section dedicated to titles purchased and downloaded from iTunes.
At launch, Apple TV channels support HBO, Showtime, Stars, Cinemax, Epix, Smithsonian, and Acorn TV among others. Over time it is likely that other services will also be added, many of which also include free trial periods. HBO, on the other hand, is currently the only one that also includes support for downloading content to view offline.
Other changes in the new TV application include an updated interface with a greater focus on personalized recommendations, as well as a new section dedicated to children with carefully selected content for viewers of all ages.
Here you can find the list of countries where the new Apple TV app will be immediately available.
iOS 12.3 also includes bug fixes and improvements for Apple News +, Apple Music, Apple TV Remote, AirPlay 2 and CarPlay. Also available is the HomePod OS 12.3 update, which includes support for connecting to enterprise networks that require unique credentials.
