Apple to release a 16GB iPod touch 5G for $199 next week



Apple plans to release a new version of the 16GB iPod touch 5G, reported MacRumors, citing its own sources. This model will join the current line of iPod touch with 32 GB and 64GB version. The 16GB version r price will be $199 and will have few color options. According to some reports, the release of new items will be held next week.

Apple introduced the iPod touch 32/64GB fifth generation in October 2012 and the cost of the device started at $299.  In May last year, the company released a new player model for $ 229, equipped with 16 GB of memory and only in silver. This option has stripped back camera and strap to be worn on the wrist. A model is the same as in older versions, 4-inch display Retina, A5 processor and a front facing camera.

At the moment, 16GB iPod touch 5G is the most affordable device on iOS  that can be bought the official Apple store. With the cheap components, The Cupertino company decided to release improved version iPod touch 5G with iSight camera and various color options.

It is worth noting that Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the iPod – is “fading business” with sales, which amounted to $ 8 billion in 2008 and 5 billion in 2013. The last major update iPod line was two years ago, since players only get software updates. Model iPod Classic has not been updated for several years. Recall that now the cheapest model iPod Shuffle cost only $49.

Some analysts predict that in the future Apple plans to stop issuing music player iPod, replacing them in their product line iWatch smartwatch.
