Digitimes analyst denies the rumors of KGI and states that Apple could launch only one new OLED iPhone in 2018, the one with a 6.5-inch screen.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI, three iPhone will be released in 2018: two OLED models with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch screens, a 6.1-inch LCD screen. For analysts of Digitimes, however, Apple would not have yet made a decision and would be considering various assumptions.
The report even speaks of a single iPhone OLED, the 6.5-inch model, with Apple intending not to produce any 5.8-inch OLED device. Precisely this aspect makes the report of Digitimes not very credible, since it seems untrustworthy not to have a new OLED version of the 5.8 inch iPhone X in 2018.
In any case, according to the analyst, Apple would be looking at these hypotheses: 5.8-inch iPhone LCD, 6.1-inch iPhone LCD, 6.1-inch OLED iPhone and 6.5-inch OLED iPhone. In the end, Apple could sift through these three models: 5.8-inch iPhone LCD (which would be the cheapest of all), 6.1-inch iPhone LCD and 6.5-inch OLED iPhone.
Once again, it seems unlikely that Apple will opt for two LCD models, when other reports talk about large investments on the OLED. In short, this news should be taken as a simple rumor and nothing more.
Finally, Digitimes stated that Apple could release the iPhone SE 2 in the second quarter of 2018. According to the analyst, the new iPhone SE will support wireless charging but will not integrate the Face ID and 3D Touch sensors.
