Facebook bought Onavo for data compression



Facebook has agreed to buy the application developer Onavo. Details of the transaction were not disclosed , but according to the site Calcalist, the social network for the company to pay $150 – $200 million

Founded three years ago, the startup has developed software that reduces costs for the user on the mobile Internet by making better use of data. After closing the application will remain an independent brand. The weak point of Facebook in 2012, analysts described the scope of mobile and advertising, which resulted in significant fluctuations in the company’s shares .

Office Onavo will become the new headquarters of the social network in Israel. According to some sources , about 30 employees will be a start to work in the new department Facebook.
