Foxconn offered to buy Sharp for $5.3 billion



According to the Wall Street Journal, Foxconn would acquire for Sharp in order to start the direct production of OLED screens at the request of Apple. If confirmed, the news is one important to the future of China and Apple itself.

With an investment of $5.3 billion, Foxconn may soon acquire Sharp and all of its manufacturing facilities of the display. Once purchased, Foxconn would be able to realize materially OLED displays that Apple would like to implement over the next iPhone.

Foxconn would not change the management structure of Sharp, but merely managing the supply for Apple. The advantage for the Cupertino company is clear: to have a historical partner as Foxconn also able to produce displays for future iPhone. Farewell then to negotiations with other companies like LG to OLED displays
