The Galaxy S7 Edge is soon available in a new color: Samsung has announced its current flagship model in the color Black Pearl. The color version, which is reminiscent of the iPhone 7 in diamond black, will be available this week.

With the Galaxy S7 Edge in “Black Pearl” Samsung Electronics presented the seventh color variant of its top smartphone, as can be read in the company’s newsroom. The new color is exclusively reserved for the version with 128 GB of internal memory space. As a release date Samsung calls the 9th of December 2016 – from then the device is to be available in “selected markets”. Which regions are exactly the same, the manufacturer leaves open in its press release.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S7 Edge in Black Pearl is “modern and impressive”. The shiny black is intended to give depth to the glass design of the smartphone and capture the “essence of color in its purest form”. The new version is visibly in contrast to the versions “Blue Coral” and “Pink Gold”, which Samsung has published earlier this year. In the last-named colors, the designers would have been inspired by “soothing natural colors”.

Already a few weeks ago there were rumors that Samsung is planning a black version of the Galaxy S7 Edge supposedly to make the iPhone 7 in diamond black competition. The premature end of the Galaxy Note 7 should also have had an influence on the decision of the company to bring forth further color variants.
