Google presented many new features including the new Pixel 4 phones, the Pixel Buds 2 earphones and much more.
The new Pixels 4 and Pixel 4 XL were widely known before their official presentation, so much so that Google had even shared some photos recently. Key features include a 90Hz display, a new 16-megapixel telephoto lens, facial authentication, motion detection and more.
The Pixel 4 features a 5.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2220 x 1080, while the Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3-inch OLED screen with 3200 x 1800. Both displays are at 90Hz and offer a smoother experience than the iPhone 11 Pro at 60Hz.
Google says that with the Pixel 4 you can refine the brightness and the amount of detail in the shadows, helping you with difficult shots like sunset portraits. And with the new astrophotography feature, Night Sight on Pixel 4 can capture shots of the night sky, stars, and even the Milky Way when it’s visible.
No more fingerprint sensor on the back. As on the latest iPhones, Pixel 4 and 4 XL integrate a thicker upper front frame than the others to accommodate front camera, speaker and facial authentication system similar to Face ID. Google claims that the Pixel 4 has “facial unlocking faster than any other smartphone”.
Google also explains that the Pixel 4 facial unlocking is supported by a new feature called Motion Sense, which uses a miniature radar sensor to detect movements around the phone. The same sensor allows you to make quick gestures with your hands to postpone alarms, cancel a timer, silence an incoming call and much more, without having to touch the phone. Furthermore, by taking advantage of this sensor, the Pixel 4 knows when the user is nearby and can, therefore, activate the display, lower the ringer and so on. Motion Sense can also be exploited by third-party apps.
Pixel 4 is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery, while Pixel 4 XL has a 3,700 mAh battery. Other technical specifications for both devices include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, Adreno 640 graphics, 64 GB or 128 GB of storage space, 6 GB of RAM, Bluetooth 5.0, water and dust resistance with IP68 protection and speakers stereo.
