Abraham Masri released a new version of Houdini semi-jailbreak with support to all versions of iOS 11 up to 11.3.1, where support was provided until iOS 11.1.2 before.
semi-jailbreak is used because Houdini offers features that are not offered by default on iOS. However, there is no Cydia and it is not possible to install tweaks. There are mostly customization elements, such as putting themes, hiding the names of applications, cleaning the application cache, changing the control center interface and more.
Houdini beta 3 also has a list of changes for iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak that you can see below, presenting the changes the developer has managed to do.
Despite this, implementing support for iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak and iOS 11.2 is an impressive achievement.
Houdini beta 3 full changelog is as follows:
– Support for iOS 11.2 to 11.3.1 (thanks to Ian Beer)
– Home and lock screen widgets (temporarily disabled)
– Added Passcode customization in iOS 11 (with new features included)
– Re-enabled themes in iOS 11 (partially works)
– Added customizable icons
– Customize iOS 11 Control Center
– Option to disable system updates
– Option to remove Houdini (stock iOS)
– Faster startup time
– UI Changes and bug fixes
– Cleaner code base
Two flaws for iOS 11.3.1 were unveiled by security researcher Ian Beer, one that is “easily” exploitable, whch requires a developer account and another that requires more work when used without a developer account. Here, Abraham Masri decided to dwell on the first fault. You can download Houdini by clicking here, it will compile and install the semi-jailbreak with the developer account.
On the other hand, CoolStar is currently preparing an update for Electra for a complete jailbreak. He announced working first on a version relying on the flaw requiring the developer account. He will then take care of the jailbreak with the second flaw, the tool can be used by everyone. So far no date has been release yet.
