The first jailbreak of iOS 11.2 and iOS 11.3.1, called Electra, was released to the public. Following are the indications to perform the release and installation of Cydia on your device updated to one of these two versions of Apple’s software.
This jailbreak has been released for a few hours and is therefore still in an embryonic stage. In the coming days new updated versions could be published that should correct the problems so far identified by users.
- On iOS 11.3-11.3.1 the device will reboot twice and Electra will have to be run again after the first reboot.
- Best to use futurerestore before using
- from cydiaimpactor.com for your PC or Mac.
- Cydia will be installed automatically.
- OpenSSH will be enabled on port 22.
- PC or Mac on Windows or macOS.
- Electra repository will be added by default.
- Electra1131 final IPA file from here
- Substitute tweaks, Tweak Loaders and Substrate Compatibility Layers are available in the Electra repo.
- Several packages and tweaks will still need to be updated to introduce compatibility with iOS 11.
- RocketBootstrap 1.0.6 (or later version) is required on iOS 11.
How to Jailbreak
This guide is good for both Windows and Mac. The process is indeed the same.
Step 1: Make sure you have backed up your content to iCloud or iTunes.
Step 2: Download Electra and Cydia Impactor from the links above.
Step 3: Right-click and extract the contents of the Impactor .zip archive.
Step 4: Start the Impactor program and click on “Run” if required.
Step 5:Connect the iOS device to the computer via the USB cable and select “Authorize” if required by iTunes and possibly also on the iOS device.
Step 6: Take and drag Electra’s .ipa file onto the Cydia Impactor interface.
You will be asked to enter your Apple ID and account password. Do it (it’s safe because the data is not transmitted to other servers other than Apple’s).
Cydia Impactor will sign the Electra .ipa file and will jailbreak the device, installing Cydia.
Step 7: Open the Settings app in the Home and choose “Siri and Search” from the Settings menu.
Step 8: Deactivate the “Hey Siri” and “Press the Home / Side key for Siri” function.
Step 9: Go back to Settings and choose “General”.
Step 10: Go to “Profiles” and press on your Apple ID.
Step 11: Select “Authorize” on your email address and then press “Authorize” again when prompted by the system.
Step 12: Drag the screen to Device Control Center and set the device to flight mode.
Step 13: Press and hold the (or sequence, on iPhone X) key to turn the phone on and off. After a few seconds press the power button again to turn the product back on.
Step 14: Make sure the device is still in flight mode after rebooting and then start the Electra app from the Home of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Step 15: Press on “Jailbreak” and start the actual unlocking operation. The device will restart.
You will notice a warning that will inform you that an APFS Snapshot has been created. Click on “Continue Jailbreak”. Electra will then install Cydia and inform you that OpenSSH will be running. Click on “Exit” to end the jailbreak operation.
Voila!!! Now you just have to do is launch Cydia and reload the list of packages. You will see several updates (we recommend that you run them all) and after completing them the device will restart one last time. Without this you can enjoy your jailbroken device freely!
