Having a very good Portrait Mode photo no longer requires to have an iPhone with a dual lens system.
Yesterday, Instagram unveiled a new feature that mimics Apple’s Portrait Mode and will be available for iPhones and selected Android devices.
The new “Focus” feature can be found next to Super Zoom mode. The user can use it either from the front or the camera at the back of his device. All he has to do is put the face of the shot on the frame and will automatically notice that the rest of the background will blur.
In the first demos, we can say that the result is not as clean as Apple’s Portrait Mode but it is by no means ugly. Instagram’s Focus also works in video capture.
The devices that will be compatible with this feature are iPhone SE, 6S, 6S +, 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and X.
After you’ve taken a photo or video in your stories camera, open the stickers tray, tap the @mention sticker, start typing the name of the account you want to mention and select from the options that appear. You can then rotate, scale and place your sticker wherever you’d like.
Also in this newer Instagram app update, you will find the @mentions stickers for iOS “stories” enabled.
