Security expert Ian Beer already announced on Twitter in September that he will release iOS 11.4 / 11.4.1 exploits. Now, his focus is currently on iOS 12 and that’s why he released the exploits.
Ian Beer iOS 11.4.1 exploits are now publicly accessible in project-zero and can be downloaded from there. More details later in the post.
Exploits are needed to jailbreak iOS versions. In order for a jailbreak to succeed, different factors have to place. So the exploits have to be executed the right way with the write and read permissions on the device, most often the combination of multiple exploits is the key to success.
Ian Beer published exploits are just a “proof of concept” because there is no guide for developers on how to use them. Another problem with the exploits found is that you need root privileges.
Moreover, it is now up to developers to find more exploits to develop a jailbreak for iOS 11.4 / 11.4.1. Although the outlook might not look so good at first glance, the published exploits are the first ray of hope.
