Apple has officially presented the iPad Air 2022. This is the 5th generation iPad Air line, just like its predecessor, it features a 10.9-inch screen display.

Design

The new iPad Air 2022 design did not changed, meaning the same aluminum housing with flat sides and without a home button, which consists of a large screen. It comes with a total of five colors: space gray, starlight, purple, pink and a new shade of blue.

Display

As for the new iPad Air screen, It is a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with support for True Tone, wide color reproduction and a brightness of 500 nits. It has a fingerprint-resistant and anti-reflective coating and the screen is fully laminated. The resolution is 2360 x 1640 with a pixel density of 264 pixels per inch.

Every version of the new iPad Air has no support for 120Hz, however, ProMotion refresh has been added in this new model. This feature remains exclusive to the iPad Pro family. The new iPad Air 2022 also works with the Apple Pencil 2, which you can use to draw and write.

Specs

The iPad Air has received better specifications, thanks to the M1 chip with better graphics performance, thanks to the extra power. There is also a 16-core Neural Engine, which comes in handy for photo editing. Apple has also made the USB-c port twice as fast, but there is no support for Thunderbolt/USB-4. The iPad Air 2022 still has two speakers, just like the previous model.

Camera

The front camera in the iPad Air 2022 has been improved. The new version has a 12-megapixel camera instead of 7-megapixel, with support for Center Stage. This will allow you to always be in the picture, even when you move in front of the camera. The front camera also has an aperture of f/2.4 and can zoom out 2x and supports an extended dynamic range for video up to 30 frames per second, and support 5G wireless connectivity.

The rear camera has remained unchanged. That means a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and 5x digital zoom. Oddly enough, the iPad Air doesn’t get a True Tone flash, while the iPad mini 2021 did get it last year.
