According to reports gathered from the authoritative website The Investors, some suppliers have confirmed that the iPhone 8 will feature an IP68 certification, which will attest the capacity to handle water immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of one meter and a half, without bring any harm.
One step forward, therefore, than the current generation; iPhone 7/7 Plus equipped with a Type IP67 certification.
Samsung, for its part, will maintain the path taken with the latest top range Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, also equipped with IP68 certification. This feature, as confirms the same source, also it will in fact be proposed again in the new flagship Galaxy S8.
But there is more: other sources add that the Korean company would plan to extend this type of certification, including the lower-end models such as the J-series, and as it did, in fact, with the new Galaxy A3 and A5 in 2017.
To maintain waterproof their devices, finally, Samsung and Apple will use waterproof tapes that, compared to traditional adhesives, also facilitate the management of product repairs.
