Jailbreak with Redsnow 0.9.9 b8: Dev Team Released and Update for iOS 5.0.1

A couple of hours after iOS 5.zero.1 Beta launched, the iPhone Dev Team updated redsn0w 0.9.9b8 now with a new  jailbreak tools version for Windows and Mac. Even with this jailbreak , the iOS 5.0.1 still a tethered (wired) jailbreak. The only exception is the jailbreak an iPhone 3G with old bootrom.

redsn0w version 0.9.9b8 will natively recognize the 5.0.1 beta that Apple let developers start testing this week (so you don’t have to play the “point at 5.0 IPSW” trick).  Because the IPSW isn’t public, you’ll still need to provide it once to redsn0w (at which point it will cache all the important pieces so you don’t need to select it again).

For those 3GS and i4 users who preserve their baseband, the Mac version can also produce the NO_BB_* custom IPSWs for 5.0.1.  (But please note that ultrasn0w doesn’t get updated for betas like this.)

This is still a tethered jailbreak for all except old-bootrom 3GS users.

A special feature of the Mac version of redsn0w 0.9.9b8 is the ability to create a gejailbreakten firmware without baseband update; This is especially users of an iPhone 3G or iPhone 4 helpful if they need to unlock their device using ultrasn0w. The new redsnow supports iOS 5.0.1 Beta 1 For iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 (GSM + CDMA), one iPad, iPod touch iPod touch 3 and 4.
