Microsoft has finally brought its video game streaming service xCloud to iOS. Project xCloud is a Microsoft cloud streaming service for video games, which makes it possible to stream games to titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and other Xbox titles directly on iPhone and iPad. At the moment, the iOS app has been released on TestFlight for a limited number of users.
After a series of internal tests, it is the first time that the app and the related Microsoft service have also been released in public beta. The final release is expected within a few months. Beta is currently only available in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Unlike the Xbox Game Streaming app on Android, this iOS preview is for Project xCloud only and does not currently include Xbox Console Streaming.
Currently, xCloud on iOS allows you to play streaming only to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, due to unspecified limitations imposed by Apple. Microsoft is working to offer more titles at launch.
