Microsoft to launch office for iOS and Android in March 2013



Product Manager at Microsoft, Petr Bobek, has just announced that next year, a version of Office will be available for iOS and Android. During a press event  Bobek showed the Czech website ihned that the Office applications will be released in  March 2013 for devices using Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. In recent months there were many rumors about a mobile version of Office, but so far not resulted in an official announcement.

The new version will not only be available for iOS, Android and Windows, but also for other operating systems such as Windows Phone, Mac OS X, and Symbian, Microsoft said. In the press statement was read on all Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents follow on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad can be opened. Although there are several applications available in the App Store that can cope with these formats, there is no one that even comes close to the quality of the Office package that we are accustomed to the desktop.

Besides a standalone application for the mobile operating system comes a new version of Office Web Apps. The new Office 2013 version will provide consumers sometime in February 2013 to appear, though business users might already from December this year to make use of the new version.
