wwdc-2018-logoFor those expecting new hardware on June 4 at WWDC2018 will be disappointed to know that Apple is not planning on introducing any. According to Bloomberg, the whole event will be focused on the software and no new devices will be presented.

On that day, Apple will present iOS 12, watchOS 5, tvOS 12 and macOS 10.14. Point. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the opening keynote of WWDC 18 will not reserve important hardware news: users will have to wait a few more months for the new iPads, Macs and Apple Watch.

What to possibly expect?

A new feature in iOS 12 that will allow users to monitor time spent using their devices and individual apps. This innovation should help solve problems related to smartphone addiction.

ARKit 2, with a new multiplayer mode for augmented reality games. There will also be a mode that allows objects to fall into an area and remain virtually in place.
Apple may disclose its universal app plans, with a platform that will allow iOS apps to run on Macs as well. This universal platform could only be presented to WWDC, and then launched later.

New minor features for snoozing notifications, monitoring the stock market, group video calls and sending Animojis via FaceTime.

In general, Gurman expects the software updates of iOS, MacOS, tvOS and watchOS to be more behind the scenes than on the front, with Apple focusing primarily on bug fixes and performance optimization. Bigger changes will come later.

For example, some new features of iOS 12 as a completely redesigned home screen, new AI features in the Camera app and an advanced file manager on iPad will only arrive in 2019.

Furthermore, important hardware innovations are also excluded. Gurman did not rule out a few small surprises, like the launch of the AirPower or new straps for Apple Watch. Difficult, if not impossible, that Apple will present new iPads, MacBooks or Apple Watch.

According to the analyst, all these devices will be postponed at the end of the year, including a new “cheap” MacBook. A new Apple Watch with a slightly larger display should also arrive by the end of the year.
