Playstation 5 also know as PS5 is scheduled to be released in 2018, however new report suggest that it might launch sooner than anticipated. With the release of Project Scorpio scheduled for the end of this year, many are curious to see if Sony will react in some way to the launch of this new powerful Microsoft console.

PS4 is dominating the market at sales level, but demand is spontaneous: will the Japanese company react to rivals with just as powerful a console, and perhaps with a whole new generation of hardware ? As reported by the Wall Street Journal, an analyst is convinced that the release of a new PlayStation would not be so far away.

Damian Thong, analyst at Macquarie Capital Securities, had successfully predicted Sony’s plans for PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro and recently launched a new indiscretion: PlayStation 5 could go out in the second half of 2017 in direct competition with Project Scorpio.

The prediction of Macquarie Capital Damian Thong is based on that Sony now has more competitors in the market than I thought. Nintendo has just launched its next-gen console called Switch and Microsoft plans to introduce the powerful Xbox Scorpio console in June under the frame of E3 2017. This would suggest that the Japanese would bet on the fifth generation of PlayStation not to Lose ground and renew the bond with their fans.

Of course, we are faced with a rumor that has no confirmation from Sony and the very nature of what this PS5 might be is really a mystery, a whole new generation or a platform compatible with PS4?. What do you think?
