Pod2g creator of the jailbreak device began engaged on the modem firmware iPhone 4S baseband instead of developing an exploit to jailbreak the the third generation Apple TV set-top box. An annoucement was made via his twitter account.

As some have found, I am playing with the baseband. Already found a non exploitable DoS. I hope I can find more stuff. 

According pod2g, he spends his work with the USRP hardware. Apparently the attacker leaves no hope to win the first place in hacker contest Mobile Pwn2Own 2012, in which a grand prize of $100 000 was received. Under the terms of the competition, developers have to find a vulnerability in the iPhone modem firmware. Apparently, this was the main reason to start working on the iOS Unlocking.

Recall that in June, the developer of the hardware unlock mobile ApplenBerry announced the launch of a new service for smartphone that will unlocked iPhone, tied to cellular operators. The company offers users the "eternal" unlock for the iPhone without jailbreaking, the use of additional maps and other hacks. This service cost is $150.
