Once Tim Cook, the man responsible for Operations and the global supply chain, now becomes Khan. The man has been with Apple for 24 years and, according to the press release, played an important role in bringing Apple’s most important products to the market since the late 1990s. Jeff Williams remains Apple’s chief operating officer, while Khan is more concerned with product quality, planning, procurement, production, logistics and the like. Khan will also be accountable for the state of affairs at suppliers. Apple wants employees worldwide to be protected and trained.
Both Tim Cook and Jeff Williams are wildly enthusiastic about Khan. He ensures that products are delivered and those factory employees are treated with respect, while at the same time keeping an eye on the environment. Williams even expects Khan to become the best Operations team leader in Apple’s history.
Khan previously worked as an application developer and then had a technical managerial role at GE Plastics. He then joined Apple. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and subsequently obtained his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
