Samsung, contrary to expectations, is not deprived of the opportunity for competitive reasons to produce processors for the iPhone, and received a large order for the production of mobile chips A8. At least as reported by the Korean edition of ZDNet, which refers to informed sources in the company.
Despite the legal confrontation between Apple and Samsung, these manufacturers can not easily stop working . As previously reported , TSMC has already started production of Apple A8 processors for the next generation of smartphones and tablets . However, this does not mean that only TSMC will produce microchips data .
According to Korean sources , Samsung will start producing SoC platform Apple A8 in II quarter of this year at its factory in Austin. These processors will be used in mobile devices, Apple’s next- generation , including a new flagship iPhone 6 , whose announcement is scheduled for the autumn .
For whatever reason, the two manufacturers formed the gap is unclear. Maybe it’s that first got 60-70 % of orders , while the Korean giant will produce 30-40% of the remaining processors.
Details of the contract with Samsung, as well, and chip characteristics A8, were not disclosed. We only know that they will be made on 20 – nanometer process technology . Most likely, Apple A8 processor will consist of 64 -bit 4 -core and quad-core graphics accelerator .
