Scott Forstall and John Browett to leave Apple next year



Apple made an announcement that the senior vice president of iOS software, Scott Forstall  leaving  Apple in 2013. Forstall meanwhile will play a role as adviser Tim Cook fulfill. Also John Browett, former head of Apple’s retail division, will leave Apple as well. In the meantime, Apple’s retail team reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook but will be taken over by Eddy Cue and Craig Federighi.

Apple states the following in a press release :

Apple today announced that management changes more cooperation between hardware and software teams should encourage. These changes will Jony Ive, Bob Mansfield, Eddy Cue and Craig Federighi more responsibilities in their roles. Apple also announced that Scott Forstall next year will leave and as an advisor to Tim Cook will serve in the meantime.


John Browett also departs from Apple. The search for a new leader for Retail has begun and in the meantime, the Retail Team directly report to Tim Cook.

The reason for the departure of two executives will not be given. Forstall was one of the main leaders behind iOS, which recently released a new version appeared. Possibly he was also responsible for Apple’s new map service , which was much criticism. This led to Tim Cook to apologize for the service offered .

The departure of Forstall is likely to affect the appearance of iOS and Apple’s own apps. Forstall favored design (like icons with leather texture with stitching and calendars with torn leaves), while Jonathan Ive looking more like a serene.
