A Swiss broadband provider Salt has launched a new alternative remote control for Apple TV, after criticism from users who have struggled to get used to Apple’s Siri Remote.
The optional remote control was developed in collaboration with Apple after a considerable portion of Salt TV customers complained about the usability of the Apple Remote that came with the Apple TV. Salt sells a particular bundle of its broadband package that includes an Apple TV.
Thanks to the close collaboration with Apple, the alternative remote control does not require any combination with Apple TV and works immediately. Includes directional arrows instead of the Siri Remote Touch glass surface, a power button, as well as a Menu button, along with separate volume and channel buttons and media playback buttons. There are no dedicated Siri keys, also because tvOS does not offer this function in Switzerland, at least for the moment.
We don’t know if Apple will expand this collaboration in other countries. Among other things, it is positive that Apple has listened to users’ negative feedback to find a solution immediately
