TMSC to open a factory in Arizona for Apple chips production

The Wall Street Journal confirms that the Apple supplier TSMC is in talks to build a multi-billion dollar manufacturing facility in Arizonja.

TSMC is the exclusive manufacturer of the A-series chips used by Apple on the iPhone and iPad and which could soon also arrive on the Mac range. From the report, the iPhone 12 will use the A14 chip based on the 5-nanometer process of TSMC.

These days, TSMC is in talks with the Trump administration to conclude the deal. In any case, the new plant in Arizona would be ready by the end of 2023 and not before, with the official announcement expected for today.

Chips for Apple devices will likely be produced at the TSMC plant in Arizona, including the iPhone, iPad, and, perhaps, Mac.
