Jailbreak is a method of unlocking that allows us to install external applications to the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Many users do not have quite the options and features offered by Apple and want the option of implementing the changes they want on their computers. Change the look of the icons, add more functions to the Control Center or remove native applications are just some examples of what can be done with the jailbreak, so it is no wonder that millions of users around the world are rushing to install on their devices when a new jailbreak tool comes, as happened several weeks ago with TAIG for iOS 8.3.

However, there are many cases in which we want to remove the jailbreak and so far, the only way to do that was restoring the system to the factory settings, which means that the latest version of iOS is installed. Saurik, creator of Cydia has launched a tool called Cydia Impactor which allows us to reverse the process without altering Jailbreak iOS version that we have installed.

Cydia Impactor is the tool that many were expecting. You can come in handy if for example we sell our iPhone and want to keep it in a version that allows reinstall the Jailbreak if the buyer wishes. With this application a reboot of the factory setting is performed and all data from the computer are removed, including the Jailbreak, but with the difference that does not force us to upgrade to the latest version of iOS.

This means that if we are in a vulnerable version to jailbreak, will continue in a vulnerable version of the same jailbreak. It is a very simple process explained below.

It is noteworthy that Cydia Impactor is not yet compatible with the iPod sixth generation since there is still no OTAs for the device. It is expected to be supported in the future.

Un- jailbreak any iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch on iOS 8.4 & 8.3 with Cydia Impactor

  • First, make a backup of your iPhone with iTunes.
  • Connect our device and we made sure to have at least 20% battery (important).
  • Install Impactor Cydia from Cydia.
  • Run  Cydia Impactor . To do this, we have to play its icon on the home screen, then where it says delete all data and unjailbreak device, followed by Delete All. We do not have to touch anything until you see the Welcome screen.
  • Activate our device as you normally would.

For example, if we do it in iOS 8.4, we restore the device to factory leaving iOS 8.4 jailbreak without trace. We just have to re-jailbreak and start with everything clean.
