Microsoft has released a first version of the Windows 10 Technical Preview for smartphones. Users who participate in the beta program can install software on their devices. The test version for the desktop has been off for some time now.

Who participates in the Insiders program from Microsoft and its smartphone has registered the new operating system will automatically enter through an over-the-air update, it appears from  from Microsoft blog post  about the trail. Also, future updates will appear automatically.

Microsoft asks its users to provide feedback on the software. Also, it remains possible for participants to go back to a previous installation. This may be necessary because the software still does not work: according to Microsoft, it is a early version, which still several ‘rough edges’ must be eliminated. On his blog, the Redmond company has published a list of known bugs.

For now, the Windows 10 technical preview only works on the Lumia 630, 635, 636, 638, 730 and 830. Support for high-end devices like the Lumia 930 and 1520 missing in this first version. These smartphones are chosen because they have standard enough space on the partition where the OS is installed. In time, there should be more smartphones made suitable for the new operating system by dynamically adjusting the OS partition.

The preview for the desktop is already available. Last month Microsoft brought  a new version and this Fall, the final version of Windows 10 should hit on the market.
